Wing Power Energy, a Massachusetts-based developer of hybrid vertical micro-wind turbines that operate in both low and high winds, plans to raise its first investment round this year in a bid to reach full commercialization Chief Executive Harry Ruda told Clean Energy Pipeline.
The privately held company was founded by two individuals in 2009, funded by a mix of angel, corporate and institutional seed investment. US- and Taiwan-based growth investor Stage 1 Ventures is a major source of institutional investment for the company.
Serial entrepreneur Ruda has founded four to five prior venture-backed technology start-ups, which all had successful exits before he took the helm of Wing Power as Chief Executive in November 2010.
