Verizon Wireless announced its roll out of wind and solar powered 4GLTE coverage in downtown Salem, MA as reported here on New England Cable News [NECN].
Wing Power Energy, working with Verizon Wireless and the City of Salem have installed three hybrid wind/solar systems on top of a municipal parking structure in the center of this historic New England town. The systems power 4GLTE transponders completely off the grid. The concept is to locate these types of systems in a rollout to provide this powerful broadband infrastructure without having the sometimes complicated and expensive issue of tying into the grid. This allows the Telecom giant to provide coverage in many place that would, otherwise, be difficult to reach. And, at the same time, the service is offered using modern, clean, renewable energy that is as constant and available as the sun and wind.
